Marie F. Freed, 95, of Milan, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, with a Rosary recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made in care of the Q.C. Animal Welfare Center, Milan, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure or to Gilda's Club, Davenport.

Marie was born in Muscatine, Iowa on February 4, 1919, a daughter of James and Margaret Slattery Cockerill. She married Harold E. "Pete" Freed on March 1, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1988.

Marie was a longtime member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Milan, Blue Cross Mission Ladies and the Wi Lo Bees Club. She loved her family, her animals and shopping. She also enjoyed watching birds.

Survivors include; her children (and spouses), Suzanne Buddin, Milan, Barbara Jo (John) Laughlin, Milan, Judith Freed, Milan, Mary (Danny) Rodamsky, Milan, Dolores (Dan) Bradley, Rock Island and Donna Hoke, Milan; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 8 great great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara (William) Wilson, Muscatine, Iowa; and daughter-in-law, Joan Freed, Rock Island.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Dennis Freed, brothers, James, Ralph and Donald Cockerill and son-in-law, Loren Hoke.
