Obituary

Marie Bessie (Gray) Fuller passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at New Perspective Senior Living, Silvis.

Marie was born on November 8th, 1928, in Waterloo, Iowa to Charles and Alice (Bunce) Gray. Marie was the eldest of four children. At a very young age, Marie was cooking and caring for her siblings as her parents were out working. Her mother taught her to sew and crochet which led into a lifelong love of creating clothing and afghans for family and friends.

In 1946, she met Fredrick (Fred) Edward Fuller in a general store in Otterville, Iowa, when he tripped over her father's kerosene can, spilling it all over the floor. This was all in an effort to get to her and ask her out. They were later married on January 7th, 1950.

In 1958, Fred and Marie moved to Rock Island, Illinois where Fred took a job as a truck driver. Marie was a stay-at-home mom who took in clothing for alterations for many years. Later in life, she began quilting and would show them at local craft fairs. Marie loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing bingo and nickel slots at the casinos (where she often won), and baking pies and cookies for Fred.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alice Gray; her sister, Bernice Gray; and her brother, Robert Gray.

Surviving Marie is her son, Larry Edward Fuller (Kathy) of Burgess, Illinois, and daughter, Alice Marie Fuller of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandson, Jeremy Fuller of Davenport, Iowa and granddaughter, Mariel Hale (Justin) of Monmouth, Illinois; and great grandchildren, Jackson Hale and Lydia Hale.

Per Fred and Marie's request, no memorial or funeral will be held. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan is assisting the family.
