Marie E. Carlson, 89, of Milan, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Silver Cross Nursing Center-Friendship Manor, Rock Island.  Services for Marie will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Wheelan Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery.  Memorials may be made in care of First Presbyterian Church, Milan or the Taylor Ridge United Methodist Church.

Marie was born on March 31, 1927 in Aledo, a daughter of Ralph Willard and Lila Godfrey McConnell Rathbun.  She graduated from Reynolds High School in the Class of 1946.  She married Duaine Carlson on May 22, 1955 at the Milan Presbyterian Church.  Prior to her marriage, she worked for Desauliners Printing, Moline.

For many years, Marie played the piano at the Taylor Ridge Methodist Church and was active with the Methodist Women.  She also enjoyed crafts and leading Bible studies.

Marie is survived by her husband, Duaine; son, David, Milan; daughter, Kathy, Rock Island and a sister, Alice Vogt, Moline.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers and a sister, all in infancy.
