Marilyn Jeanne Lindsey, 75, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Bethel Assembly of God, 3535 38th Avenue, Rock Island. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2023, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.
Marilyn was born May 21, 1948, in Long Island, New York, to Walter "Slim" "Poke" and Clara "Betty" (McVicker) Brittendall. She graduated from Rock Island High School in 1966. Marilyn married James R. Lindsey on February 14, 1981, in Rock Island. She was a manager at Fox Photo, an at home caregiver at Home Instead, and a sales associate at Jafra Cosmetics for several years. Marilyn also cared for her granddaughters when not working. She was a long-time member of Bethel Assembly of God in Rock Island. Marilyn enjoyed crafting, playing cards and board games, and attending her grandchildren's activities and sports. She was an avid list maker and made a list every day. Marilyn was also a fan of Joyce Meyer. Above all, Marilyn loved her family and cherished the time spent with them.
Those left to remember Marilyn include her husband of 42 years, Jim; children, Lori (Michael) Sedam, Steve (Marta) Canfield, and Jennifer Lindsey; grandchildren, Nicole, Taylor, Kristofer, Drew, Xavier, Cristina, Stephanie, Deanna, and Melanie; great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry Brittendall; niece, Kaitlyn; and many cousins and extended family members.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; son, Christapher Lindsey; granddaughter, Jamie; and brother, Jim Brittendall.
