Marilyn Joyce Morrison, 88, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021, at her home. Marilyn was born December 27, 1932, in Kossuth County, Iowa, daughter of Paul and June (Koepke) Hutchcroft. She married Donald E. Morrison on February 28, 1954, in Mediapolis, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2013.

Marilyn was a graduate of Drake University and Columbia University and formerly worked as a teacher. In her youth, she was an award-winning equestrian, winning too many trophies and ribbons to count. She enjoyed art, volunteering at Kaleidoscope Art for Children. She was known for her handcrafted greeting cards that she loved to share with family and friends. She also enjoyed music, cooking/baking, and flowers. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and creating unique activities and experiences for her children and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish Marilyn's memory include her sons, Jonathan (Adrienne) Morrison, Parkland, Florida, David Morrison, Ames, Iowa, and Michael (Christine) Morrison, Bettendorf, Iowa; grandchildren, Sarah, Jacob, Gillian, and Taylor; and siblings, Ted Hutchcroft and Nancy (David) Cox.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; parents; and daughter-in-law, Julie Morrison.

Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2022, in the Ascension Chapel at Augustana College, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family with arrangements. Private inurnment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to The Friends of Hauberg Civic Center Foundation, Bergendoff Renovations or Kaleidoscope – Art for Children at Augustana College, or American Cancer Society.
