IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn J.
(Murphy) Naab
January 3, 1940 – May 10, 2025
Marilyn J. Naab, 85, of Rock Island, passed away Saturday May 10, 2025 at her home.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00PM Tuesday May 20, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be left in her name to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Marilyn was born January 3, 1940 in Jacksonville, Illinois, the daughter of George and Francis (Decker) Murphy. She graduated from Moline High School. Marilyn married the love of her life, David Naab on November 28, 1966 in Delevan, Illinois.
Mrs. Naab had been employed by John Deere Plow Planter as a administrative Assistant.
Everyone that knew Marilyn would agree that she was special. She exuded kindness and compassion everywhere she went. She looked for the best in people and would always offer her help, support, and generosity. Marilyn loved fiercely and with her whole heart. To be touched by her love was a true blessing. She was a devoted wife. Her late husband Dave was the love of her life and together they were an inseparable pair. Their unity, strength, and love were inspiring to all. She nurtured and shaped many lives; including those of her siblings, siblings in law, and nieces and nephews, many of whom she regarded and cared for as her own children. She protected those closest to her with a passion. Marilyn was also a strong and resilient woman. A woman who overcame many obstacles in her life. A woman who was smart, clever, funny, independent, determined, driven, and accomplished. Perhaps one of her most remarkable traits was her thoughtfulness. She knew how to make everyone feel special. There are a million example of her loving acts of kindness and service. How she would remember someone's goals, wishes, likes, and interests. She'd always use that knowledge and have the most thoughtful and specific dessert, meal, gift, or outing prepared and planned out. Making those around her feel loved on such a deep and powerful level. She cared deeply for animals and nature. She provided and looked out for many wild animals who seemed to understand and sense her loving nature and good intentions. She was known to foster and take in many animals over the years. They were her pride and joy! She and her late husband considered them part of the family.
She is survived by her siblings, Larry (Linda) Murphy, Darlene Ackerman, Carol (Ron) DeMeyer; brother in laws, Tom (Steph) Naab, & Chris (Andi) Naab; aunt to 19 nieces and nephews, including, Dan, Debbie, Missy (deceased), Hilary, Asa, Emele, Isabella, Jim, and Jacob; many great & great great nieces and nephews that were all loved, along with many beloved Murphy nieces and nephews as well.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, David; parents, George and Francis; and a sister, Judy Platts.
