Marjorie Arlene Hesseltine Polton, 97, of Rock Island, passed away on Tuesday June 13, 2023 at the Good Samaritan Society House, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30am Tuesday June 20, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Graveside services will be held in Sandy Hook Cemetery, Brighton, Iowa, following visitation.

Marjorie was born on November 15, 1925 in Brighton, to Ed and Mary (Henrietta) Hesseltine. She resided in Brighton area until she married Mart M. Polton on July 25, 1942 in Kahoka, MO.

Marjorie was a homemaker, a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, that enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved cooking, gardening, quilting, bird watching, going to the casinos, movies and helping others in need.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Gary (Sue) Polton, Davenport, Martha Hanson (Jerry Anderson), Aledo, Nancy (Tom) Flaherty, Rock Island, James (Diana) Polton, Moline; grandchildren, Matt (Keri) Polton, Kansas City, MO, Christopher Polton, Davenport, Kammie (Chad) Hillyer, Aledo, Thomas TJ Hanson, Davenport, Tracie Bittner, Trenton, Iowa, Krista Polton (Ron Gerleman), Lochridge, Iowa, Todd (Tracy) Polton, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 12 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Mary Hesseltine; husband, Mart Polton; sons, Ed Polton and Donald Polton; brothers, Donald, Horace "Buster" and Harold Hesseltine; sisters, Ethel Edfors and Sylvia Hanson.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her great niece, Rhonda Kinney, Genesis Hospice Center and the staff of the Good Samaritan Society, for the care they gave to Marjorie.
