Marjorie M. DeMeyer, 95, of Rock Island, passed away peacefully Saturday June 23, 2018 at Clarissa Cook Hospice, Bettendorf. Private graveside services were held at Rock Island National Cemetery. Marjorie was born on August 2, 1922 in Macomb, IL, the daughter of Homer and Alma (Jack) Lefler. She married Elmer H. DeMeyer in 1948 in Rock Island. She had been employed at Kelin's Clothing Store and later as a floral designer with Lamps Flower Shop, Rock Island. Marjorie was a loving mother who was always there for her children. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, and bird watching. She and Elmer enjoyed traveling and socializing with a group of close friends for over 50 years. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Karen Sue Hayes, Bettendorf, Kent DeMeyer, St. Charles, MO., and Douglas DeMeyer(Hal Chapple) Charlotte, NC.; 2 grandsons; 1 great grandson; sister, Ruth Ann Kerr, Rock Island and several nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer; her parents, Homer and Alma; and sister, Hannah "Cookie" Plummer.
