Mark Steven Butz, age 65, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, at MercyOne Genesis Silvis Medical Center. He was born on May 2, 1959, in Shawano, Wisconsin, to Mahlon and Marilyn (Campbell) Butz. Mark was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew him. Mark was united in marriage to Jody Kester on April 9, 1983.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 10:00 am, where family and friends are invited to celebrate Mark's life and legacy. A visitation will take place at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home-Rock Island on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm on the same day. Inurnment will take place at St. Boniface Cemetery in Lafayette, IN, at a later date.

Mark dedicated over three decades of his life to his work as a lineman with Mid-American Energy, where he was respected for his professionalism and strong work ethic. In addition to his professional commitments, Mark was an avid sports enthusiast. He could always be heard cheering for his favorite teams, including the Chicago Bears, the Chicago Cubs, and the Purdue Boilermakers. He found joy in watching NASCAR and Indy car races. Mark also enjoyed bowling, playing softball, and exploring the great outdoors through hiking.

Mark is survived by his cherished son, Louis (Kailey Johnson) Butz; and his adored grandchildren, Noah and Liam Butz. He will also be missed by his beloved siblings: brother, Michael (Suzanne) Butz; sister, Melinda (Keith) Fortner; and sister, Michele Butz-Tyson.

Memorials may be made in Mark's memory to St Pius x Catholic Church. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Mahlon and Marilyn Butz, and brother, Martin Butz.
