IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark Joseph
Parr, Jr.
October 23, 1951 – April 7, 2025
Mark Joseph Parr, Jr., 73, a beloved resident of Rock Island, Illinois, embraced eternal peace on Monday, April 7, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. His life will be celebrated by friends and family who were fortunate enough to know him.
Born on October 23, 1951, in Rock Island, Mark was the cherished son of Mark J. Sr. and Donna L. Mitchell Parr. He found joy and companionship with Julie Doy, whom he married on August 6, 1977, in Geneseo, Illinois. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Mark dedicated 32 years to his career as an industrial fork truck mechanic for John Deere Parts Distribution Center in Milan before retiring in 2009. He passionately contributed to his community, serving as a trustee for South Rock Island Township and holding leadership roles as the past president of the Local 79 Retirees and president of the Quad Cities In-Fisherman Club.
An avid angler and golfer, Mark found happiness in nature and cherished his time with family. Whether he was debating politics, volunteering at the QCCA Expo Center, or watching his adored grandchildren, Abbi, Calvin, Kylie, and Korbin, participate in sports, Mark filled each moment with enthusiasm and love.
Mark is lovingly remembered by his wife, Julie Parr; his son, Josh (Kate) Parr; his daughter, Jesi Litwiler; his siblings, Mike Parr, Dan Parr, Jeff (Carol) Parr, Steve Parr, Holly (Terry) Adamson, and Sam (Janine) Parr; and beloved grandchildren, many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Mary Parr.
A memorial visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 201 E. 4th Avenue in Milan, Illinois. Friends and family will gather to honor his life and share memories. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 1-4 pm at the QCCA Expo Center, Rock Island, where we will come together to commemorate the joy and inspiration Mark brought to our lives.
