Mark A VanHolbeck, 47, of Davenport, IA, formerly of Superior, WI, died suddenly on Wednesday, Sept. 9th, 2020 at Genesis East Medical Center, with his sister by his side. Mark was born on July 16, 1973 in Superior, WI, the son of Juliann M Berg and the late Fredrick J VanHolbeck.

Mark worked for Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, through the Compass Group. He was a superb employee receiving their "Gem of the Year Award," many times.

Mark had many interests. Riding his scooter, listening to music - especially Metallica, fishing, thrift shopping and working in his flower garden were just a few. He was a kind and gentle soul with a wicked good sense of humor who loved people and was a friend to everyone he met.

Mark is survived by his mother, Julie Berg, Superior, WI; dad and best buddy, Bill Duffy, Davenport, IA; twin brother, Matthew VanHolbeck, Superior, WI; sisters, Amanda (Ben) Hodge, Rock Island, IL; Shawna (John Elsenpeter) Callahan, Wilson, WI; Alexis (Abdelrahman Abdelrahman) Duffy, Tacoma, WA; and Amber (Josh) Falls, Eau Claire, WI; one niece, 7 nephews and a host of cousins whom he greatly loved.

Mark was preceded in death by his birth father and a niece, Sarah VanHolbeck.

A memorial service will be live-streamed at 11 am Tuesday, September 15, 2020 by visiting www.wheelanpressly.com/live-stream.  A public memorial visitation will be from 10-11 am Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island. Cremation rites were accorded. Inurnment will be private.  Memorials may be made in care of the family.
