Marlis J. Eiland, 89, of Milan, IL, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at Hope Creek Nursing Rehab and Care in East Moline. Born on May 9, 1936, in Carman, IL, Marlis was the cherished daughter of Verney and Edith (Bagles) Bolander.

As a member of the Milan United Methodist Church, she actively participated in the choir and enjoyed her time with the Women's Club. Her vibrant spirit was often seen in her outings to the senior center, where she engaged in activities that brought her joy. Marlis had a passion for coloring, puzzles and crocheting, and she found great comfort in the companionship of her many beloved cats. An avid fan of Westerns, she cherished the simple pleasures that life had to offer.

Marlis leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Jean Whitmarsh, Raymond (Joyce) Eiland, Lorrie Eiland, James Eiland, Leon (Billy Rose) Eiland, and Kathy Bolander. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Tanya, Jessica, Bradley Noah, Natalie, Saylor, and Brandon, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ethan and Samantha. Marlis was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brothers, Samuel and Arthur. In honor of Marlis's wishes, there will be no formal services held. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the QC Animal Welfare Center, an organization that reflects Marlis's love for animals and her compassionate heart. Marlis J. Eiland will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
