Martin "Marty" Gray, 65, of Milan, passed away Sunday October 13, 2024 at UPH Trinity, Rock Island.

Funeral services are 10:30 AM Friday at Hamlet-Perryton Presbyterian Church, Reynolds. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be in Hamlet Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Reynolds Fire Department

Marty was born on February 4, 1959 in Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, the son of Henry "Hank" and Elois "Lois" Cleveland Gray. He graduated from Aledo High School. Marty married Lisa Widdop on September 8, 1979 in Beulah Church.

He had been the owner of Gray Machine and Welding, Rock Island.

Marty has served on the Reynolds Fire Department for 33 years, the last 10 as fire chief. He was a volunteer with the Rockridge Boosters Club, where he served as president, an Elder with Hamlet Church and had coached several years for youth baseball and basketball.  Marty loved spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa; father Hank Gray; children, Jeremy (Jackie Norman) Gray, Rock Island, Krista (Billy) Mohl, Elkhorn, Nebraska; grandchildren, Jackson, Henry, Mason, Grant, Hunter and Brock; sister, Patti (Bob) Long, Summerville, South Carolina; mother in law, Linda Widdop; adopted uncle and aunt, Ron and Jean Brown; adopted brother, Brian Brown; and childhood friend, Doug McCleary.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Elois and father in law, James Widdop.
