Martin J. "Marty" DeHaven, 62, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.

Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Martin J. DeHaven was born Dec. 29, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa, a son of Joe and Ruth Carlson DeHaven. He married Colletta King Sheeder who preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 2004.

Marty was a maintenance supervisor for APAC until his illness. He previously worked for the Chicago and NorthWestern Railroad in Clinton.

He served in the U.S. Army. Marty loved listening to the radio and was a frequent winner of radio contests. He also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include his children, Troy DeHaven, Bill Sheeder, Rachel and Renee DeHaven, and Tara and Tammy Sheeder; grandchildren, Conner Johnson, Kaitlyn Jones, Kylie Lathem, Brandon Walters, Cole DeHaven, Raylee DeHaven, Brandon Sheeder and Colin Tometich; great-granddaughter, Ava Walters; brothers and sisters, Dick DeHaven, Carol Macke, Linda Hill, Steve DeHaven, Kevin DeHaven and Shelly McCluskey. He was preceded in death by his parents.
