Marty Jay Quist, 61, of Taylor Ridge, died Friday, October 10, 2014 at his home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Avenue, Milan. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A private burial will be in Preemption Cemetery, Preemption, Ill. Memorials may be made in care of the American Heart Association.

Marty was born in Mercer County on December 17, 1952, a son of Norman and Marna Fullerton Quist. He married Deborah Pritchard on May 3, 1980 in Edgington.

Marty has been employed as an insurance agent for Farmer's Insurance Company for the last 31 years. Marty always treated his clients like family and went the extra mile to help out any way he could.

In his younger years, Marty enjoyed playing in bands and listening to rock 'n' roll. He also enjoyed going to Florida, raising miniature horses, buying motorcycles and converting them into trikes and buying and selling vehicles . Marty was an avid collector of sports cards and loved his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Quist, Taylor Ridge; children, Bryan (Juli) Quist, Moline, Joshua Quist, Muscatine, Iowa and Chelsey (Kyle Sullivan) Quist, Milan; grandchildren, Jameson Sullivan, Rose Quist and Quinn Longcor; mother, Marna Quist, Milan; sister, Carol Lingle, Rock Island; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
