Marvin D. Beshears, 85, Sherrard, IL passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Hope Creek Nursing Home in East Moline, IL. There will be a visitation from 12-1:00 PM with a memorial service following at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Private inurnment at Beulah Cemetery near Orion, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

Marvin was born on November 29, 1938 to Earnest and Marjorie (Gray) Beshears in Bismarck, IL. He grew up in the area graduating from Rossville High School. On December 7, 1958 he was united in marriage to Karen Murphy. In 1969, they relocated to the Quad Cities area where Marvin got a job running the mill for Bullock Garages. The couple made their home in Sherrard where they have lived since 1973.

Marvin designed the automated framing machine for Bullock and worked there for 27 years. He then farmed briefly before becoming an insurance agent for Country Companies and John Deere. In 1992, he started Taylor Garages which he owned and operated until 2009. Marvin was also a master carpenter who made cabinets, furniture, trim, etc.

In his spare time, Marvin was an avid fisherman.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Karen; children, H. Frank (Debra) Beshears, Art (Susan) Beshears, and Sheila Beshears; grandchildren, Aaron Beshears, Kelsey (Luke) Lasack, Morgan (Pat) Moore, Jessica Beshears, and Shannon Beshears; and great-grandson, Sawyer Lasack.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Eileen Potter, Betty Potter, and Peggy Boohr.
