Marvin Oak, 93, of Taylor Ridge, passed away on Thursday September 15, 2022 at his home.

A combined graveside service to celebrate the lives of Marvin and his son Gregory, who passed away in December of 2020 will be held at 11:30am Saturday October 8, 2022 in Edgington Cemetery.

Marvin was born on July 28, 1929 in Taylor Ridge on the family farm, the son of Kenneth and Laura (Mueller) Oak. He graduated from Reynolds High School and joined the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning home from Korea he married the love of his life, June Westphal on September 23, 1956 in the Edgington Presbyterian Church.

Marvin had farmed in the Taylor Ridge area his entire adult life.

He enjoyed gardening and had a love of wine making that won him several awards at the Rock Island County Fair. He also enjoyed to hunt morel mushrooms, especially the big yellows.

He is survived by his son, David Oak, Taylor Ridge; brother, Marion (Dorothy) Oak, Taylor Ridge; nieces and nephews, Naomi (Randy) Duvendack, Jacksonville, Illinois, Becky (Dennis) Keithley, Washington, Missouri, Joel (Jill) Stuart, Olathe, Kansas, Kevin (Cindy) Oak, Taylor Ridge and Sheri (Anders) Holgersson, Coal Valley.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, June; parents, Kenneth and Laura; son, Gregory A. Oak and sister, Eloise Stuart.
