Marvin E. Tharp, 76, of Milan, died Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.  Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at Andalusia Cemetery, Andalusia.  Memorials may be made in care of the Parkinson's Foundation.

Marvin was born in Aledo, Ill. on March 17, 1941, a son of Kenneth S. and Eva E. Kenney Tharp.  He married Linda Hicks in 1966.  They later divorced.

Marvin worked as a ham boner for Oscar Mayer for 33 years.  After retiring, Marvin started Tharp's Stump Removal which he ran for 10 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to the river boats, dancing, listening to country music, visiting neighbors and watching television, especially CNN and the show Gold Rush.  He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children (and spouses), Michael (Lori) Tharp, Silvis, Randall (Jill) Tharp, Milan and Dale Tharp, Rock Island; grandchildren, Carter Tharp, Jacki (Will) Fawkes, Heather Tharp and Brandon, Austin and Hannah Tharp; great-grandchildren, Kylie Tharp and Myles Fawkes; siblings, Roger (Linda) Tharp, Aledo, Irvin (Kay) Tharp, Keithsburg, Ill., Frankie (Becky) Tharp, Seaton, Ill., Doris Whitesell, Rock Island, and Marna (Gene) Stewart, Keithsburg, Ill.; and his special life companion of 30 years, Deloris Willits.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dorothy Harader, Lyle Tharp, Mary Gilmore, James Tharp and Ester Gibbs.
