Obituary

Marvin E. Tidd, 71, formerly of Davenport, IA, passed away Sunday November 29, 2015 at Mainland Medical Center, Texas City, TX.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan, with visitation prior from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Edgington Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
Marvin was born February 23, 1944 in Oquawka, IL. He was raised in Milan and graduated from Rockridge High School. Following high school, he attended WIU in Macomb, IL.
He was an avid baseball player in his youth. He later pitched for two seasons, with minor league affiliates of the Washington Senators; the Wytheville Senators and the Geneva Senators. After baseball, he played semipro football for the former Quad City Mohawks. More recently, Marvin owned and operated his own multi-state vehicle resale business, Fleet Disposal.
He had coached area summer league high school baseball for several years and was an avid golfer. He was a lifetime member of the Association of Professional Baseball Players of America.
Surviving are his daughters, Tammi Larson, and her husband Dan, of Coal Valley, and Karla Pearson, of Rock Island; granddaughters, Taylor and Jordan Larson and Anna Pearson; sister, Nancy (Rich) Brown, Georgia; brothers, Donald (Karen) Hauer and Ted (Sandy) Hauer, all of Andalusia; several nieces, nephews, and additional family; aunt, Dolly Egan; and uncles, Bill and Oscar Rockhold.
Marvin was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Geraldine and Theodore Hauer; and father, Robert Tidd.
