Obituary

Mary V. Ayala, 94, of Milan, passed away Saturday March 1, 2025 at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be left to the Milan Food Pantry.

Mary was born on October 12, 1930 in McAllen, Texas, the daughter of Margarito and Juana (Zuniga) Villaneuva. She married Raymundo "Chief" Ayala on October 18, 1948 in Brownsville, Texas.

Mary retired from the former D and J Industrial Cleaning Services, Moline.

She was a member of the Milan American Legion Post 569 Auxiliary and Rock Island Moose Lodge. Mary had enjoyed visiting the casinos, camping and fishing.

She is survived by her son, Carlos Ayala, Milan; grandchildren, Rebecca (Justin) Bein, Carla (Brian) Schwertman, Michael Ayala (Nikki Camron); significant other, Jerry Butler, Rock Island; 8 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; sisters, Clementina Cisneros and Margarita Alaniz.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymundo; parents, Margarito and Juana; siblings, Zeferino Villanueva, Tomasa Romo, Juan Villanueva and Roy Villanueva.
