Obituary

Mary Lou Buckrop, 85, of Taylor Ridge, passed away peacefully on Friday June 27, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.

Private inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island.

A celebration of her life will be held from 4:00-7:00pm Tuesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to a favorite charity.

Mary Lou was born on February 6, 1929 in Rock island, the daughter of William R Dasso and Louise E Boeding.

She married Dr. Mark A. Buckrop on January 7, 1950 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2013.

Mary Lou was a graduate of Rock Island High school and attended MaryCrest College in Davenport

Mrs. Buckrop was a homemaker, gardener and volunteer for many community organizations throughout the years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock island and was active with the RI Friends of the Library, RI Horticulture Club, Home Extension, Master Gardener, Honorary RI Citizen of the Year in 2005, RI Botanical Center docent, Adler Theatre usher. Additional activities included the Putnam Museum, Davenport Junior theatre, Boy Scout Cub Den mother, Festival of trees, Christmas displays at Hauberg Center, St Anthony's, Mother of Twins club, La Leche League

Those left behind to cherish her memory; children (and spouses), Bruce (Vicki) Buckrop, Brian (Susan) Buckrop, Bradley (Christina) Buckrop, Merrilee Buckrop, Karen (Don) Hauer, Karla Buckrop, and Kent (Rebecca) Buckrop, ; grandchildren, Marc (Wendy) Buckrop, Marcy Buckrop, Mary (John) VanDeVelde, Breanne (Blake) Boster, Kullan Buckrop, Melinda Buckrop, Mariel Buckrop, Gabriel Buckrop, Isabel Buckrop, Jeremy (Megan) Hauer, Justin Hauer, Jared Hauer, Nate (Erin) Lester, and Pat (Jessica) Lester;

great-grandchildren, Lucas Buckrop, Levi Buckrop, Anthony Buckrop, Wyatt VanDeVelde, Bryce VanDeVelde, Beckett Hauer, and Jonas Lester;

many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, June Buckrop.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Alberta and son, Brent Buckrop.
