Hi everyone, my name is Mary Claudine Wiggins, but I went by Deannie. I was born February 25th, 1935, in Indian Creek Missouri to Claude and Dorothy Buckman on the farm. I am proud I made it to 91 years of age, but my goal was one hundred. As the second eldest among twelve siblings, I was fortunate to grow up in a close-knit family. I married Bill Wiggins in 1953 and had six children of our own. Melinda and Tom Doyle, Mike and Jane Wiggins, Mark Wiggins (deceased), John Wiggins (deceased), Anne and Jeff Prickett, and Nancy and Greg Fisher. I am so proud of them along with my eighteen grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. My love for my children and support is never ending,
Until my stroke in 1981 I was an underwriter for Bituminous Insurance. After having a stroke, I dedicated myself to recovery and earned the title of rehabilitant of the year. I also provided guidance and support to other individuals undergoing stroke rehabilitation. Significant losses in my life include the passing of my husband at age 54, as well as the deaths of my two sons, Mark and John. My living Brothers and spouses are Bernie and Janet Buckman, Donald and Carol Jane Buckman, Steve and Debbie Buckman, sister Carol Rickman, sister in laws Alice Buckman, Sherry Buckman, and Linda Buckman. Those who passed before me were Joey Buckman, Paul Buckman, Ambrose Buckman, Tom & Sue Buckman, Jim Buckman, Carl Buckman, baby sister Dottie and Bill Campbell, and special friend Wally Schwahn.
My Catholic faith, my family, and many friends helped me though the difficulties in life. I was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church since 1964. I loved life, and all the people in it. I tried to make our home warm and inviting to all who entered. There were many get togethers in the kitchen filled with great conversations and lots of laughter. Boy, I love to laugh! When you get to be my age you realize how short and precious life is, so I say to all, enjoy and embrace the journey, it goes quickly. Love and cherish all of those around you. Keep everyone in your prayers as I will keep all of you in mine. My final note is I cannot forget the great people at The Fountains in Bettendorf. The care staff showed patience and kindness, and it was appreciated. I have several friends there and will miss them as well.
