Mary "Joan" Flaugh, 83, of Rock Island, died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Country Manor in Davenport. Services will be at 10:00 am Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.

Mary was born in Rock Island on April 21, 1931, a daughter of John and Julieanna DeLoose Hutchinson. She married Calvin C. Flaugh on December 25, 1946 in Mitchell, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1993.

Mary worked as a Family Life Specialist for Genesis Visiting Nurses. Mary was an avid reader. She enjoyed being a homemaker and helping others. She was known by many as a mother of all.

Survivors include her children (and spouses); Diana (Bill Hoffman) Phillips, Michael (Linda) Flaugh and Tom B. (Paula) Flaugh, all of Rock Island; grandchildren, Linda Flaugh, Brian and Patrick Phillips, Thomas and Jason Flaugh, Teri Roberge and Amanda McPherson; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Helen (Donald) Wendt, Moline; special daughter, Debbie (Carl) Wade, O'Fallen, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents and an infant sister.
