IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Harris

Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Mary Louise Gibbs was born April 22, 1928 in Muscatine, a daughter of Bertice and Lucille Gerth Gibbs. Mary spent her childhood in Andalusia. She married Donavon "Don" Harris on May 26, 1950, in Muscatine. They had many adventures in their 63 years of marriage and were deeply devoted to each other.
She retired in 1988 from the former Servus Rubber Company, Rock Island after 42 years of dedicated service. Many special friendships were developed during those years and continued long after her retirement.
Mary had a "Heart of Gold". She gave herself to anyone in need but family was most important to her. One mission in her life was to be there as a mother figure to her nieces and nephews. She was the best Aunt anyone could ever ask for.
Cooking a feast for family and friends brought her much joy. No one ever left hungry and her motto was that there could never be enough food.
Survivors include her husband, Don; stepsister, Joyce Ewert, Garland, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorothy Marquardt; and brother, Herbert Gibbs.
We would like to give a special thanks to Trinity Hospice, her Doctors, and the Nurses and Aides for their kind and compassionate care.
