Mary E. Hochstetler, 87, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday October 5, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.

A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 13th, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, where visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to service time. Inurnment will be at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline or to Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Mary was born February 16, 1930 in Bremen, Indiana, a daughter of Grover and Ida Mae Coyle Rensberger. She married Richard "Dick" D. Hochstetler on October 7, 1950 in Bremen, IN. She was a homemaker. She loved cooking and baking for her family, who especially enjoyed her sugar cookies and pies.

Mary was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline and Rock Island Arsenal Historical Society. She enjoyed cross-stitch and needlework.

Surviving are her husband, Richard, of Rock Island; sons (and spouses), Michael D. (Mary) Hochstetler, of Rockford, IL, and Kirk Allen Hochstetler (Matthew Kenny), Germantown, NY; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Bessie Snyder, South Bend, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and additional family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Hochstetler; grandson, Richard D. Hochstetler II; and nine siblings.
