Mary L. Jackson, 65, of Rock Island, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at UnityPoint Health-Trinity, Rock Island. Services for Mary will be 1 pm, Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mary was born on April 29, 1953 in Waterloo, Iowa, a daughter of Walter Bell Dotson and Lillie Mae (Hunt) Dotson. She married Arthur B. Jackson on March 15, 1980 in Rock Island. Mrs. Jackson worked as a Head Start teacher for the Rock Island/Milan School District No. 41 for 38 years, retiring in 2011. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, her grandchildren and just being with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur B. Jackson Sr.; children, Arthur B. Jackson Jr., Candice D. Jackson, A.Z. Jackson and DaMarco Jackson all of Rock Island; grandchildren, Tyana Jackson, LaTonyiah Wilson, Larry Wilson, Velissa Jackson and Carmelo Jackson; siblings, Christine Pierce, Philadelphia, PA., Leitha Lewis, South Bend, IN., Shirley Zanders, Atlanta, GA., Walter Dotson Jr., Eddy Dotson, and Robert Dotson all of Durant, MS.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Artaveus Long-Jackson; and her sisters, Annie Dotson, Helen Stephenson, Geraldine Haywood and Ruthie Coffer. Online condolences may be left for the family at wheelanpressly.com
