Mary M. Morrison, 96, of Silvis, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
Mary was born December 3, 1919 in Olathe, KS the daughter of J. Daniel and Minnie (Cross) Coffelt. After the death of her parents at age two she came to live with her uncle and aunt Tom and Pearl Speer in Aledo. She attended rural Sunbeam school and Aledo High School. Mary married James M. Morrison on April 6, 1946 and worked during WWII at the Rock Island Arsenal. Later she worked forty years at the former Service Rubber Co., retiring in 1985, as an administrator of employment.
Mary was a member for over fifty years at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, where she had served as elder, deacon, and youth leader. She was also active with the Good Shepherd's Presbyterian Women's Group.
Mary is survived by her step-children, William Morrison, Davenport and Mona Van Winkle, Bettendorf. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Morrison; parents; foster parents; brothers, Louis and Lawrence Coffelt; and step-grandson, Donald Morrison.
