Mary L. Schmidt, 91, of Taylor Ridge, passed away Sunday September 10, 2017 at her home.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon Thursday September 14, 2017 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Andalusia Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Rock Island County Humane Society.

Mary was born on February 8, 1926 in Taylor Ridge, the daughter of John P. and Lottie (Bremmer) Nitz. She married Leonard S. Schmidt on July 9, 1947 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on December 10, 1996.

She had been employed at Sanitary Dairy, Rock Island and later was a homemaker.

Mary loved spending time with her family, friends and two cats Muffin and Snickers. She enjoyed camping, traveling, canning, going to estate sales and the Milan Auction.

Survivors include her brother, John "Jake" Nitz, Illinois City; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; siblings, Anna Tuttle, Irma Terry and Raymond Nitz.
