Mary L. Conroy, 88, of Moline, passed away Monday March 6, 2017 at her home.

As per her wishes, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life. Inurnment will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of Alleman High School.

Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.

Mary was born on April 29, 1928 in Chicago, the daughter of Harry and Eugenia (Fagan) Petersen. She married Michael James Conroy on November 20, 1948 in Trinity Church, Bloomington. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2015.

Mary had been a homemaker, staying home to raise their 9 children.

She loved spending time with her family, was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling and will always be remembered for her large holiday gatherings.

Survivors include children (and spouses), Michael J. Conroy Jr., Rock Island; Robert P. Conroy, Rock Island; Timothy (Rochelle) Conroy, West Des Moines; Gregory (JoAnn) Conroy, Moline; Stephen (Debbie) Conroy, San Jose, Calif.; Jeffrey R. (Evette) Conroy, Milan; David (Mary) Conroy, Rock Island; and Christine Conroy, Bettendorf; many grand- and great-grandchildren; brother, Tom (Margaret) Petersen, South Bend, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Mary Conroy-Connelly; brothers, Harry Petersen and Eugene Petersen.
