Mary Jo Slayden, 55, of Moline, passed away Thursday April 21, 2016 at her home.

A rosary and memorial service will be 7:00 pm Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island, where visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made University of Iowa Children's Hospital.

Mary Jo was born November 21, 1960 in Rock Island county, a daughter of Dorrance "Doc" and Patricia "Pat" (Tipton) Leonard. She graduated from Alleman High School, Rock Island. Mary Jo married Douglas W. Slayden on December 30, 1978 in Rock Island.

In earlier years, Mary Jo, worked at ORA Orthopedics in Moline. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, and previously of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Mary Jo is survived by her husband, Douglas, of Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Ryan  Vidmar, Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Kathy Slayden, Milan; grandchildren, Grace Vidmar and Emalee Hollingsworth; brothers, Richard Leonard, Robert (Marta) Leonard; sister, Julie Odle; several nieces and nephews; and brother-in-law, Jamie Slayden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Billy and Melva Slayden.
