Marylyn J. Wilson, 93 of Rock Island, died Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, where military honors will be presented by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 9:30 am until service time Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, or to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Marylyn Jane Baird was born July 19, 1921 in Rock Island, a daughter of Simon and Florence Sass Baird. She married Harry L. Wilson on Sept. 12, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio. He died April 9, 1969.
Marylyn was a WW II U.S. Navy veteran and was a Yeoman First Class when she was discharged in 1945. She was a court reporter and had owned and operated S & W Reporting in Rock Island for many years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island, and a charter member of Mill Creek Country Club, Milan, now the Pinnacle Country Club. Marylyn enjoyed playing golf and bridge and had been a member of 13 different bridge groups at one time.
Survivors include her children, Sheila Wilson, Bettendorf; Thomas H. (Vickie) Wilson, Davenport, and Paula (Craig) Tigerman, Apple Valley, Minn.; grandchildren, Amy (Lance) Stockwell, Bettendorf, Richard Albertson, Farmville, Va., Chelli (Mark) Esser, Apple Valley, Justin Tigerman (fiancée, Kathleen Borchers), Caldwell, Idaho; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Garrett (Pierre), Kyle Boultinghouse, Lindsey (Reggie) Zorg, Christopher (Christie) Gibrich, and Bethany (Justin) Kump; four great- grandchildren; 8 step great-grandchildren: and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry; sister, Florence "Maxine" Dahlberg; and brothers, Richard and Clifford Baird.
