IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Maureen "Tootie"
M. (Larson) Sears
November 18, 1942 – May 15, 2025
Maureen "Tootie" M. Sears, beloved mother, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on May 15, 2025, at Allure of Geneseo in Geneseo, Illinois. A cherished member of the Cambridge community and formerly from Davenport, Iowa, Tootie leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and compassion.
Born on November 18, 1942, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Rock Island, Illinois, Tootie was the daughter of Oscar and Dorothy Beard Larson. She was a devoted wife to Robert Schroeder, with whom she celebrated life until his untimely passing in 1983. Tootie later found love again, marrying Ronald Sears on December 31, 1990, in Rock Island. Together, they created a home filled with laughter and warmth.
Tootie had a fulfilling career at JC Penney and later contributed her talents managing the Milan American Legion Post #569. Her passion for life was evident in her many hobbies, from crocheting and sewing to her true delight—painting. Tootie's love for flowers blossomed in her garden, where she found joy and serenity. Above all, she cherished the moments spent with her son, Todd, who she adored deeply.
To honor Tootie's remarkable life, a graveside service will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Friends and family are invited to gather at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, located at 3030 7th Avenue, Rock Island, by 2 PM to share in this commemorative moment. A celebration of life will be planned for later this summer, a time for loved ones to come together and reflect on the beauty Tootie brought into their lives.
Tootie is survived by her loving husband, Ron Sears, of Cambridge, Illinois; her son, Todd (Nadine Siqueland) Schroeder, of Seattle, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews who will hold her memory close to their hearts. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert; her parents; and her sister, Barbara Jean Mullens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of QC Paws.
To honor Tootie's memory, friends and family are invited to share condolences and reflect on their favorite memories at wheelanpressly.com. May we celebrate a life well-lived and remember the laughter, love, and creativity that Tootie shared with us all.
