Maurene J. Ripperton, 84, of Silvis, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services will be at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in care of the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or UnityPoint Hospice.

Maurene J. Echoute was born on December 24, 1929, a daughter of Maurice and Irene Owens Echoute. She married Clarence LeVan in January of 1948. She later married Clayton J. "Rip" Ripperton in August of 1978. They both preceded her in death. Maurene worked at Lutheran Hospital in the recovery unit for over 25 years. She also worked at ORA orthopedics in triage for 10 years, retiring in 2000.

Maurene loved spending time with her family, gardening and dancing at Arthur Murray studio; where she met her husband, Clayton.

Maurene is survived by her children, Cheryl Frakes, Milan, Terry and Alice LeVan, Rock Island, Kent Sr. and Judy LeVan, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Beth and Don Albracht, Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Brian Frakes, Michael and Stacy Frakes, Corey and Amanda LeVan, Melissa LeVan, Katie LeVan Phillips, Angela LeVan, Kent LeVan Jr. Christopher LeVan, Sarah Albracht, Jake and Jennifer Albracht, and Luke Albracht; 10 great-grandchildren and sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Paul Lind of Hillsdale, Illinois.

She is also survived by Rip's children and their families, Cheryl and Kirby Graff of Bettendorf, along with Mary and Kevin Cox, Kirk and Patti Ripperton, and Scott and Michelle Ripperton, all of Davenport; grandchildren and their spouses, Nikki and Brent Kock, Bill Cox, Jacob Ripperton, and Jacklynn Ripperton and two great-grandchildren.

Waiting to greet her in heaven are her parents, husbands, a granddaughter, JoLee Cox, and son-in-law, Jerry Frakes.
