Max L. Benson, 90, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday May 11, 2014 at Unity Point-Trinity, Rock Island.Services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 3030 - 7th Ave., Rock Island. Burial with military honors, will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Salem Lutheran Church, Moline.

Max was born on June 24, 1923 in Albia, IA, a son of Raleigh and Helen (Collins) Benson. He married Edna C. Stivers on April 20, 1951 in Rock Island. She preceded him in death on January 24, 1998. He later married Marilyn Ristau on May 24, 2000 in Dixon, IA.

Max was an electrician and member of I.B.E.W., Local 145, Moline for many years. He also was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and the Moline American Legion Post 246.

He and Marilyn enjoyed their time with family and friends, and playing games in their board game group.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn, of Rock Island; stepchildren (and spouses), Stanley Olsen, East Moline, Linda (Darryl) Cain, Moline, Judy (Rick) Stark, East Moline, and Jane Olsen, St. Cloud, MN; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his twin sister, Maxine Hoyne, Fenton, MO; sister, Helen Koons, Simi Valley, CA; nieces, Donna Proctor, Las Vegas, NV, Cindy Wooten, Duck Key, FL; and nephews, Kirk Koons, Carson City, NV and Steve Hoyne, Fenton, MO.

Max was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Edna.
