Melissa J. Charlton, 42, of Milan passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2025 at home.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, with visitation to be held from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Memorials may be left in care of the family.

Born on April 23, 1982 in Rock Island, Illinois, a daughter of Mary Volgelsang and John Charlton. Melissa was a true embodiment of the hustle. From a young age she displayed an extraordinary work ethic, taking on various jobs. Melissa approached every opportunity with passion and dedication, thriving in anything she did.

Melissa was an amazing person who had a unique gift for making friends wherever she went. Her infectious smile and vibrant sense of style were enough to light up every room she entered. People were naturally drawn to her free-spirit and unwavering kindness, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Those left to cherish Melissa's memory include her mom, Mary Vogelsang; children, Justice Charlton and Jakob Weber; grandsons, Kaden, Lucas, Tristan; siblings, Michael Talbot, Stacey & Joey Grimstad, Johnna Charlton, Samantha (Jay) Steines; along with several loved nieces and nephews .

Melissa was preceded in death by her dad, John Charlton; stepdad, Greg Volgelsang; and nephew Tyson.
