Melvin L. Henderson, 64, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Born on January 19, 1961, he was the cherished son of John H. and Irene (Hurdle) Henderson. Melvin was a lifelong resident of Rock Island and attended Rock Island High School.

Melvin leaves behind a legacy remembered through the love of his siblings: Ora Moore, Henry Henderson, Pearl Hickman, Mary Henderson, Yvette Henderson, Aubry Henderson, Juanita (Marty) Bea, Beverly A. (Greg) Chapman, Sherry Walden, and Shannon Henderson. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, his brother Larry Henderson, and his brother-in-law Odell Hickman.

In accordance with the family's wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory in Rock Island is assisting the family during this time of reflection and remembrance.
