Merle E. Heath, 94, of East Moline, formerly of Rock Island, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at home. Services for Mr. Heath will be 10 am, Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military honors will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post No. 246. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Merle was born on February 19, 1921 in Rock Island, a son of C. Merle Heath and Margaret Yerkey Heath. He married Delores Prebyl on October 21, 1966 in Rockford, Illinois. Mr. Heath worked as a salesman for Duffy Paper Co., Rock Island and later for Regalia Manufacturing, Rock Island, retiring in 1985. He was a member of AARP, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Heath was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Delores; daughters, Sandra (Mike) Murphy, Moline, Susan (Brad) Ashley, Paola, Kansas; step daughter, Catherine Kessel, Orion; step sons, Victor (Judi) Prebyl, Irvine, CA. and Steven (Linda) Prebyl, East Moline; Merle was also blessed with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
