Obituary

Michael Everett McGee, 67, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, at The Veterans Hospital, in Iowa City.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Second Baptist Church in Rock Island. The visitation is from 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Rev. Donald William Johnson eulogist, Pastor Joseph D. Williamson, III, officiating. Interment will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left in the care of his wife Dorothy.
Michael was born August 21, 1947, in St. Louis, MO, the son of William and Rebie Flemming McGee. He married Dorothy Ann Johnson on September 19, 1970, in Rock Island.
Michael attended Second Baptist Church in his youth. He was baptized with his son, Kevin, in 1982, at Olivet Baptist Church. He joined Destiny Baptist Church in 1995.
Michael served in the U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a machinist at Caterpillar, as well as the Rock Island, Arsenal.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, Rock Island; children, Kevin (Laurie) McGee Davenport, and Kimberly (Stephen) McGee-Sims Brandon, MS; grandchildren Kevin McGee, II Davenport, Khalil and Kiara McGee, Springfield, MO; great-granddaughter, Maleiah McGee, Davenport; and siblings, Robert McGee, James McGee, Jacquelyn (David) Carpenter, Linda Moore, Debra Ann Thornton, Joyce (Herman) Jackson, Connie Payne, and William McGee; special friend, Scotty Butler; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
