Michael F. Hartmann, 67, of Milan, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a decades-long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was surrounded with love by his children. A funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 4:30 p.m. at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made in care of the Royal Ball Run for Autism.
Michael was born in Rock Island on October 24, 1949, a son of Marshall W. and Patricia A. Conner Hartmann. He worked as an engineer for John Deere for 25 years, where he earned the nickname "Lucky" before going on disability in 1990. He retired from the company in 2014. One of his favorite past times was running the family farm on Big Island. He loved being ornery and joyfully joking with his family and friends. Michael was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island.
Survivors include his children (and spouses), Gail (Bryon) Gant, Pat, (Jen) Hartmann, Charlotte (Shawn) Johnson and Kathy (Casey) Creger, all of Milan; grandchildren, Alex, Kyle and Lauren Gant, Lyric Nolin, Kade Hartmann, Tyler and Logan Johnson and Payton, Cora and Colton Creger. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Christopher Hartmann.
