Michael "Jim" James Conroy Sr., 88, of Moline, died Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Per Michael's wishes, there will be no services. Inurnment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made in care of the American Cancer Society. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.

Michael was born in Bloomington, Ill. on March 28, 1926, a son of Richard J. and Elizabeth McGraw Conroy. He married Mary L. Petersen on November 20, 1948 at Trinity Church in Bloomington.

Michael was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the South Pacific during World War II. He attended St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, and worked as an industrial tool salesman for 54 years.

Michael enjoyed working and loved his family.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Conroy, Moline; children (and spouses), Michael J. Conroy Jr., Rock Island, Robert P. Conroy, Rock Island, Timothy (Rochelle) Conroy, West Des Moines, Iowa, Gregory (JoAnn) Conroy, Moline, Stephen (Debbie) Conroy, San Jose, Calif., Jeffrey R. (Evette) Conroy, Milan, David (Mary) Conroy, Rock Island and Christine (Ed) Wilson, Bettendorf, Iowa; and many grand and great-grandchildren.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Mary Conroy-Connelly, two sisters and four brothers.
