Michael C. Leihsing, 84, Sherrard, IL passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at UnityPoint-Trinity Hospital in Rock Island. There will be a rosary at 3:30 PM with a visitation following from 4-7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 2, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan. Burial at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Kewanee, IL. Memorials preferred to the church.

Mike was born on May 15, 1939 to Nikolas and Sarah Ellen (Wilson) Leihsing in Phillipsburg, MO. He grew up in Missouri and after graduating high school, served in the US Army. When he was 19, he moved to the Quad Cities to start his career at John Deere Harvester. Mike held various positions during the 37 years he worked until retiring in 1995. During his time at Deere, he also attended and graduated from Lincoln Barber College in East Moline and enjoyed cutting the hair of his family, friends, and neighbors,

On May 22, 1965 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Cinnamon. The couple lived in Moline until 1978 when they moved to Sherrard. They were members of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

Mike enjoying doing yardwork, tinkering with his sports cars, and creatively fixing things around the house. He was a man who always had a smile and never met a stranger, known for being outgoing and social, and often a jokester who never turned down a party. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

He is survived by his daughters, Jane Adams and Jill (Jim) Dzekunskas; grandchildren, Jenna Romeo, Chase Ruplinger, Michael Early, Ryan (Rande) Dzekunskas, Blake (Theo) Rinehart, Emily (John) Girka; sister, Mary Klauer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Francis, Thomas, Lloyd, Ernest, Louis, and Lawrence Leihsing; and sister, Agnes Thompson.
