Michael D. Leingang, 55, of Sherrard, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at UnityPoint Health - Trinity, Moline. Funeral services will be 10:00am on Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Visitation will be from 1 to 4pm on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sherrard Cemetery. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Michael was born January 23, 1961 in Moline, a son of Thomas Sr. and Joan Mindock Leingang. Michael graduated from Sherrard High School and worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He married Jill Alexander on September 29, 1984 at First Presbyterian Church, Milan. Later on, Mike started his own trucking and heavy equipment company, Leingang Trucking.

Mike loved driving and operating heavy equipment; digging up black dirt and hauling it away. He enjoyed bowling and played in many local tournaments with his grandfather's bowling ball. Mike also loved trips to the casino and took his children all on a special trip to the casino on their 21st birthday. Michael was a caretaker to all and devoted family man. One of his greatest accomplishments was becoming a grandfather, a job he had always wanted. He was a gifted conversationalist and a true social being who never knew a stranger for very long. He will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jill; children, John Michael (Audi) Leingang, Amy Michelle Leingang, all of Sherrard and Sara Marie (Eric) Kohrs, Coyne Center; grandchildren, Claire Kohrs, Patrick Wage and Abrahm Leingang; father, Thomas Leingang, Sr., Sherrard; siblings, Thomas Jr. (Deanne) Leingang, Sherrard, Susan (Bradley) Titus, Richmond, KY, David (Carol) Leingang, Sherrard, Julie (Wayne) Sanders, LeClaire, Iowa, Christine (Mike) Henry, Concord, N.C., Sherry (Shawn) Stropes, Aledo, mother in law, Theresa Goldermann and many other loving family members.

He was preceded in death by his moms, Joan and Josephine Leingang; grandparents, including his special grandma, Hazel; uncle, Bob Leingang and father in law, Carl Goldermann
