Michael O'Shea George, 70, of Rock Island, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025 at home.
Cremation rites have been accorded and no services are to be held. Memorials may be left in care of the American Liver Foundation. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island is assisting the family.
Michael was born on May 17, 1955 in Roanoke, Virginia, a son of Lucy McGeorge. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. Michael was a jack of all trades. He worked for the laborer's union for many years and did various kinds of construction work. He married Brenda Taylor on December 5, 2010 at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island.
Michael's hobbies included cooking, singing, dancing, and looking "sharp". He always offered a helping hand to anyone who needed it and often volunteered his skills for various events. Michael was an active member of Second Baptist Church and often volunteered his gift of cooking for various church events.
Those left to cherish Michael's memory include his wife, Brenda Taylor-McGeorge, Rock Island; grandson, Billy O'Shea McGeorge, Youngstown, OH; siblings, Catherine Harris, Youngstown, OH, Michelle Scott, Atlanta, GA, and Jacqui (Michael) Le'Mon, Vienna, OH; sisters-in-law, Lynzetta Taylor, Rock Island, and Yvonne Jackson, Davenport; brothers-in-law, James T. Taylor Jr., Davenport, and Bobbykines Taylor, Colorado; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy McGeorge Jones Carter; step-fathers, Hillard Jones and Joe Carter; son, Billie McGeorge; mother and father-in-law, James and Gracie Taylor; brothers, Melvin Jones, Donald S. McGeorge, William "Nate" McGeorge, and Schon Gravely; nephew, Nathan "Basket" Jones; cousin, Walter "Fat Cat"; and all his aunts and uncles.
