Michael Kent Schalk, 71, of Matherville, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at home surrounded by family. Cremation rites were accorded.

A Celebration of Life open house will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Camp Milan, 12905 13th Street, Milan, IL. Memorials may be left to his family.

Mike was born on November 8, 1952 in Moline, the son of Robert F. and Fern E. (Frank) Schalk Sr. He married Brenda (Hicks) Schalk on June 26, 1993 in Taylor Ridge.

Mike retired from Kraft Oscar Mayer after 30 years of service as a mechanic in Davenport, Iowa.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, cars, swimming in the pool at home, bonfires with smores, and just being with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda (Hicks) Schalk; children, Benjamin Schalk, Amanda Schalk, Heather (Mike) Whittaker, Meghan (Viminda) Shafer; grandchildren, Attilysse, Wesley, Aydan, Alex, Riley, Zoey, Colin, Charlie; sister, Dianne (Dawatt Chaudhry) Schalk; brother, Robert (Pam) Schalk Jr. and father, Robert F. Schalk Sr.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Fern Schalk.
