Obituary

Michael J. Sexton, 52, of Rock Island, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 pm Monday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, where a rosary will be recited at 4 pm. HIs body will be donated to medical science following services. Memorials made be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Pius X Catholic Church or to the Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities.

Mike was born Dec. 2, 1962 in Denver, Colo., a son of David and Barbara Paprocki Sexton.

He worked as a machine operator for Chip King Industries in Milan until poor health forced him to retire in 1996. He was a caregiver for his grandmother and mother until their passing.

Mike was a an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, where he was a volunteer with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. He served many years as a volunteer sacristan in the chapel of the former Franciscan, Trinity and now UnityPoint - Trinity Rock Island Hospitals. Mike was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed following the Hawkeyes and Denver Broncos.

Survivors include his brother, Patrick Sexton, Rock Island; step niece, Ayla Alverez; aunts; uncles; and cousins. He was preceded death by his parents; and brothers, Scott, James, and Thomas.
