Milo G. McCowan, 72, of Rock Island, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday August 13, 2024 at home.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday August 21, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 10:00am to service time at the funeral home. Private burial will be in Chippiannock Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be left to the family.

Milo was born on August 10, 1952 in Rock Island, the son of Alex and Julia (Moore) McCowan. He was a graduate of Rock Island High School. He married Barbara McHenry on October 17, 1981 in Las Vegas.

Mr. McCowan had been employed with Roadway Express for over 33 years until his retirement. After he retired from his first job he worked in the Rock Island Milan School District in various positions and encouraged a lot of people.

He loved spending time with his family, friends, fishing and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Miya Reed; son, Milo Reed; grandchildren, Leanna Reed, Milo B. Reed, Marlo Reed, Mylan Reed, Elijah Daniels, Mikayla Reed, Darnell Conner Jr., D'Leyah Conner, D'Milo Conner; 6 great grandchildren, brothers, Jay (Bernadette) McCowan and Alex McCowan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; parents, Alex and Julia; and brother, Lawrence McCowan.
