IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mindie Sue
Evans
April 4, 1979 – March 13, 2026
Mindie Sue (Allen) Evans, 46, of Illinois City, IL, passed away on March 13, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA.
Mindie Evans was born on April 4, 1979, in Moline, IL, the daughter of William B. Allen and Gerry D. Evins. She married William "Billy" Evans on October 19, 2002. They have 2 amazing sons, Zayd and Wrigley.
Mindie graduated from Rockridge High School in 1997 and received her degree in Veterinary Technology at Muscatine Community College. She worked at several area vet clinics as a Certified Veterinary Technician, most recently at Aledo Veterinary Clinic.
Mindie was best known for her love of her boys and her animals. If there was ever an animal in need, you could count on Mindie to do whatever it took to meet its needs. Mindie has saved countless animals, from horses and dogs to raccoons and even a pig. She has trained, rode, and competed with horses since she could walk. Whether it was barrel racing, starting a horse from scratch, or just riding Hero through the pasture, you could be sure she was happy. She will have so many animals to pet in heaven.
The only thing she loved more than animals were her boys. She gave so much to her sons, her twisted sense of humor, her “who cares” attitude, and the occasional punch in the side of the arm. She loved to sit in the kitchen and listen to Zayd and Wrigley tell ridiculous stories and make crude jokes. Nights like that could go on for hours. One of the qualities that best describes Mindie is stubborn. There has never been someone who fights for what they believe in more than she did. She was stubborn in every aspect, fighting hard through so many battles with her health, staying strong through it all. She always talked about seeing her sons get married and have children. One thing we can be certain about is that she will be watching down when those days come. She would not want us to be sad about her passing, but rather celebrate that we knew her and the impact she had on so many lives.
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Billy; sons, Zayd (Kylee Stark) Evans and Wrigley (Estellah Bognar) Evans; special friends, Todd Shockey and Amber McCaw; She is also remembered fondly by her father and stepmother, Bill and Donna Allen; siblings, Will Evans, Deana (Kevin) Green, James (Monica) Allen, Ashley (Kevin) Smith, Heather (Ryan) Baack; step siblings, Keith Williams, Melanie Arnold, Jacqueline Kleis, and Jami Kistler; several nieces and nephews, and many animal companions.
Mindie was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Gerry and Mike Massey; siblings, David Allen, Stacey Allen; and step sibling, Lincoln Massey.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a private family service will be held. A public celebration of life will be held on June 6th at the Illinois City Hall. Memorial donations may be made in care of the family.
