Minnie M. Cotton, 68, of Madison, AL passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 10:00am Saturday March 16, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressley Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.

Minnie was born December 29, 1955, in Wilson, Arkansas, the daughter of Alex Boyd Sr. and Katherine (Shaw) Boyd. She married Ronald Cotton, on May 3, 2012. She worked at several locations throughout her career including International Harvester, Therapedic Mattress, and Allied-Barton Security.

Minnie enjoyed listening to music, dancing, playing cards, and spending time with family. She was known as a mother to many, often caring for the children of her family and friends. It is because of this she is adored by many. Her impact on their lives has been significant and many have never forgotten the special touch she imprinted on them through their younger years. Minnie was well known and had many friends in Rock Island and surrounding communities, Iowa City, Iowa, and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was always willing to help others and would often make sacrifices for those she knew and loved. Minnie was a joy to be around.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Ronald, son Shawn Boyd, Brothers Alex Jr and Lonnie Boyd, sisters Jo Ann and Malissia Boyd, granddaughters Kionna, Eboni, and Ayana Boyd, four great grandchildren, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Robert DeMyers and Frank Boyd, and sister Bennie Elsey.
