Minnie Ree Lyle, 62, Rock Island, IL passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at her home under the care of hospice after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her family. There will be a visitation from 11-12:00 PM with a funeral service following at 12:00 PM on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Burial at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.

Minnie was born on January 19, 1962 to Leonard and Katie (McClendon) Stewart in Louisville, MS. She grew up in Mississippi where she graduated high school. On March 24, 1979 she was united in marriage to Walter Lyle Jr. in Rock Island, IL. The couple made their home in Rock Island where they raised their children.

Minnie spent her career as a CNA working at various Quad City nursing homes until retiring after over twenty-five years of service.

Minnie was caregiver through and through-whether that was at work, for her biological children, or the many kids she brought in over the years. She was often the mediator and loved deeply, but she was a firecracker and everyone knew not to cross her. Minnie liked being around people and never turned down a good party, or "boogaloo" as she often called them. She enjoyed music and movies, especially classic horror movies, and would never turn down some good ice cream.,

She will be greatly missed by her children, Mark (Jessica) Lyle, Walter (Tiffany Glass) Lyle III, Leonard (Otia) Lyle, Eric (Angie) Lyle, Katie (Daquan McGhee) Lyle; siblings, Betty (Greg) Lee, Lavonne (Rick) Stewart, Leonard (Lisa) Stewart Jr., and Raymond Stewart; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; and daughters, Alanna Lyle and Rachel Lyle.
