IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Molly Jo
(Nesseler) Demink
March 28, 1958 – February 18, 2018
Molly Jo (Nesseler) DeMink
Molly Jo (Nesseler) DeMink, of Rock Island, was by all counts a daddy's girl. At the too young age of 59 – 60 next month – she became the first of five siblings to join her dad, Bill Nesseler, who passed away in August 2016, in heaven.
Molly succumbed to a sudden and unexpected illness on Sunday, Feb. 18.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. She will be cremated upon her request. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Wheelan-Pressly. Memorials may be made to the family.
Molly was born March 28, 1958, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of William and Jacqueline Nesseler. She was graduated from Rock Island High School in 1976 and from Augustana College in 1980 with a double major in Spanish and business administration. She was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega sorority at Augustana.
She met the love of her life, Raymond Daniel DeMink in 1980, and then were married on Oct. 16, 1982, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in downtown Rock Island. Raymond says he misses her dearly, as do their sons, Christian and Nick, and their shih tzus, Bella and Harley.
Molly retired from Franciscan Hospital/Trinity Medical Center after 29 years in 2009. She then worked independently as a transcriptionist for several physicians. For the past four years, she had worked for OmniClaim, in which her transcribing took her to the east and west coasts often. She was proud that that travel had put her in the "million mile club" of United Airlines.
Molly loved to follow her dad to local ballparks and baseball filled her heart. She was a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Clayton Kershaw in particular, and her travels allowed her to see them in the 2017 World Series in Houston. She proudly proclaimed herself as the "First Lady of Douglas Park," being the first female scorekeeper at the big diamond in Rock Island in her teenage years.
She had her mother's smile that could light up a room, and her father's sense of humor. Her heart was solid gold as she would help anyone as best she could.
Surviving Molly are her mother; her husband and sons, Christian (Maggie Milstein), Burbank, Calif., and Nick (Rock Island); brothers Mike (Debbie) Nesseler and Marc (Kathleen Nesseler), both of Rock Island; and sisters Mindy (Kristi Mindrup) Diaz, Silvis, and Mary (Robert) Isrealite, Chicago; her mother-in-law, Dorothy A. DeMink; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Willie Ray; her dad; a cousin, Chuck Knudsen; a niece, Olivia Diaz; and her father-in-law, Raymond E. DeMink.
